Connect/Hybrid is a client-server product. A native instance runs on each end of the connection — z/OS on one side, Windows, Linux, or macOS on the other — with each installation capable of acting as server or client depending on the direction of the transfer.
Because both ends run the same codebase, the same encryption, compression, and API behavior applies across every platform — integrations are consistent and testable on any machine in your environment. Most cross-platform tools put a gateway or translation layer in the middle. Connect/Hybrid removes that — both sides are peers.
Why it matters
Both sides of the wire — both ends run native Connect/Hybrid instances; no protocol adapters, no format conversion, no middleware in between.
Deploy where your applications live — install a Connect/Hybrid instance on Linux, Windows, or macOS — wherever your distributed application tier runs — and connect directly to your z/OS side.
One protocol everywhere — the same AES-256 encryption, data integrity, and API surface on every platform; integrations work the same in development and production.
Distributed platform licenses are included as part of every Connect/MP z/OS license.
